Counseling

Most individuals who contact Second Touch Ministries for counseling have common questions. We trust the following information will answer many of those questions. Please read thoroughly.

What type of Counseling Will I Receive?
Second Touch Ministries is a nondenominational, biblical, Christ-centered counseling and discipleship ministry. It is not a professional service such as that provided by a psychologist or professional licensed therapist. The ministry exists to counsel and train individuals to live and share the abundant Christian life that God promised to all who know Him. Our goal is to convey the way of freedom from mental and emotional problems, family and marital conflicts, and other situations by helping people understand and experience the reality of Christ as Savior, Lord and Life.

What is the Cost?
While we do not charge anyone for counseling, your voluntary financial contributions are vital to the continuation of our ministry. The suggested donation amount is $75 per one-hour counseling session. Because we understand financial constraints, we ask you prayerfully consider your opportunity and responsibility in this matter. You will be given the opportunity to make a contribution at the end of each session. Checks are made payable to Second Touch Ministries.

How Do I Get an Appointment?
Please call our office to schedule an initial appointment. During this appointment, you will meet with a counselor to discuss your situation and counseling options. Counseling appointments are scheduled on weekdays. We do not have weekend appointments.

How Many Visits Will I Need to Make?
The duration of the counseling process may vary depending on the nature of the visits. We ask that you make an initial commitment to five (5) sessions. It took time for your present difficulties to develop, and it will take some time to lay the foundation for God’s solution.

What If I Am Unable to Keep My Appointment?
In the event that you must reschedule your appointment, we ask you to please notify our office in advance so your time slot can be made available to others. If you miss an appointment, you must call to confirm your next session. Second Touch Ministries will not assume you will be returning to your regular appointment schedule after an unannounced, missed session.

What About Confidentiality?

We consider communication between you and your counselor to be confidential. We are prohibited from releasing information about any client without the client’s written authorization, with the following exceptions: 1) when you say or do something that threatens your safety; 2) when you say or do something that threatens the safety of others; 3) when there is known or suspected child abuse; 4) when records are court ordered by a judge compelling disclosure.

What About Emergencies?
Second Touch Ministries does not offer 24-hour help. In case of an emergency, contact your pastor, hospital or mental health facility.
